Relapses are a common occurrence in alcoholics. It is said that most alcoholics relapse at least once before achieving full sobriety. If you have relapsed recently, there are a few things you should know.
Ignoring your relapse or “slip” is not going to fix the problem. You need to address it immediately. Go into Detox, and find a good rehab. Explain to your family what is happening and that you are trying to fix the problem. The sooner you address the relapse, the sooner you will be able to get sober, and the less chance you have of picking up a serious problem again. Take control of your life, get help now.
Remember that relapses happen. Alcoholism is a disease you will always have. You can’t pay to have it removed, or take medicine to make it go away. The temptation to drink will always be there. If you feel like you may relapse, attend some AA meetings or talk to a professional and seek support.
